→ Be respectful to other players. Probably the second most important rule in the game. The golden rule of "treat others as you wish for them to treat you." We're not saying be friends with everyone and play with everyone, but before you act, think first. No one needs wank. No one needs drama. No one needs player cliques. No one needs to go to their plurks or the anon communities or the secret communities talking about how other players ~RUIN YOUR LIFE~ or ~DESTROY THE GAME~ or ~ARE SATAN INCARNATE~ or ~THEY NEED TO GET OFF THE INTERNET FOREVER~ because of a disagreement or because you don't like how they play or....really any number of things, actually. Because it only makes the situation worse. All we ask is that players treat one another respectfully, and to try and work out problems they might have with one another instead of resorting to name-calling or passive-aggressive anonymous comments and plurks. If you don't like someone or how they play, respect that they are a player here, and try to work it out with them. If you don't know how to approach a person, it never hurts to ask a mod for help. Most important, think before you do something brash OOCly. Because drama and being cliquey towards others doesn't help anyone, including you - and in the end, this is just a game where people want to have fun. TD;LR Be respectful to each other, talk to one another and think before you act, because when anyone starts drama, its no fun for anyone. → No godmodding. Basically, do not decide another character's actions. Give the other character's mun a chance to have their character react. "Riku throws a punch" is all right. "Riku throws a punch, which hits Sora in the gut so hard it knocks him out" is not all right, as is "Riku throws a punch, which hits Sora." On the other side of the coin, making a character completely untouchable and act without any consequence to their actions despite other character actions (i.e. "Sora doesn't get punched by Riku ever because Sora's mun doesn't like it so screw Riku's mun") is also not acceptable. In character actions need in character consequences, after all. → Please keep infomodding and 4th-walling to a minimum. Infomodding is basically having characters know information that they would reasonably not know ICly, but that their players know OOCly. For example, having Lily Potter be aware of Dexter's secret laboratory without any reason for it would be infomodding. Fourth-walling is having one character tell another that their character is fictional, or from a fictional medium. While it is possible that there are some series and canons that either have characters who know fourth wall-esque information about other characters, or characters that are aware of the existence of the fourth wall, general etiquette is that most of these characters do not reveal the fictionality of other characters, even if they recognize the canon said characters come from (i.e. Wolverine knows who Anakin Skywalker is, and even acknowledges that he knows of the character, but Wolverine doesn't tell Anakin he is fictional, merely mentioning that he's "heard" about him). → The minimum age for applying is 13. It is also Livejournal's minimum age for registering. If you are under the age of 13, please do not apply. → Activity checks. Activity check will be once a month. The mods will require one piece of activity from players, which can be comprised of any of the following:
Players can only fail one activity check before they are removed from the game. Players can request a save for one month if they need to; then they will have to do three pieces of activity to fulfill the save for the next activity check. However, if they still fail the next month's activity check, they will be automatically removed from the game. The only exemption on the monthly activity checks will be given to those who took hiatus during the month and who can prove that they posted in the hiatus post. → Hiatuses. Players can take a maximum of one month hiatus per hiatus. However, players are only allowed a maximum of two months of consecutive hiatuses at a time. If a player is on hiatus for more than eight weeks straight and fails the next activity check beyond their hiatus, it will be considered character-squatting, their characters will be automatically removed from the game. The only exception to this rule is if the players can prove that circumstances beyond their control (i.e. on the level of serious illness or of a particularly outstanding nature) prevented them from properly coming off of hiatus and/passing the activity check after they were on prolonged hiatus. Players removed by this method will be able to re-app their characters one month after they were auto-dropped, one time, and they will not be allowed to hiatus until they have passed an activity check. If a player does not pass an activity check after being allowed to reapply after an auto-drop, they will be removed from the game permanently and will not be allowed to re-apply. Also the first password for the application is foofy. → Player mediation and three strike offenses. We encourage players to work any minor IC or OOC problems out between themselves before asking the mods. If a player brings up a complaint about another player to the mods, we may ask players to talk to each other first before we step in, depending on the situation in question. It is not a question of belittling player problems which might arise; rather, sometimes, problem resolution can be a matter of clearing up a miscommunication, or maybe a player hasn't talked to the other player in question about any problems that may have arisen. So we do encourage that players first and foremost try and resolve problems they may have with one another face to face, with minimal mod intervention if possible. However, we do take any and all concerns and complaints about other characters brought to us seriously. If its clear that players talking face-to-face hasn't worked, then the mods will step in. If the situation is serious enough that a face-to-face between players would not suffice, the mods will step in automatically and deal with the situation immediately. In most cases, if a player is found guilty, they will get a strike under the game's three strikes rule. The following are offenses which can amount to a strike against a player if the complaint is serious enough to warrant it:
For a first strike, the player will receive a warning. For a second strike, they will be banned for one week. If a player receives a third strike, or a player violates their one-week ban after receiving a second strike, they will be banned from the game permanently. → Bannable offenses. The following are offenses which are of such a serious nature that players who are found guilty of them will be permanently banned from the game immediately, no exceptions:
→ The most important rule of all. This rule is so important, we needed big font for it. Very, very big font. Yes, having fun is the most important rule. When everyone follows the previous rules, this last rule will come easiest. Remember, this is just a game, and we all are playing this game to have fun. So lets have fun! And yes, as this is the most important rule, we will be enforcing this rule most strictly of all. So be prepared. ;D |
